果冻传媒 Students Awarded Scholarships at Lakes Region Tourism Annual Business Meeting
Two 果冻传媒 (果冻传媒) students have been awarded $500 scholarships each. John Merrill (Pembroke), a Culinary Arts student, was awarded the Mildred A. Beach Hospitality Scholarship.听 The scholarship is given annually to a student at a college, university or technical college who is pursuing a degree in a tourism and hospitality-related field. In addition to his studies, Merrill is the Assistant Director of Support Services overseeing dining services and the security department at Havenwood- Heritage Heights in Concord. 听鈥淚t validates my hard work I put in every time I am in class,鈥� said Merrill, 鈥淚 will use it to help pay for my education. This will get me closer to my ultimate goal of earning a BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management and furthering my career at Havenwood.鈥�
Megan Jenkins (Tamworth) was awarded the Mel Borrin Family Scholarship. Jenkins is in the Business Management program at 果冻传媒 and plans to use her education to grow her equine stable business.听 鈥淚 established this scholarship in honor of Mel Borrin who I听knew for over 25 years, 鈥渟aid Amy Landers, Executive Director of the Lakes Region Tourism Association.听 鈥淢el was a devoted business owner who supported his community, the tourism industry, and area businesses through leadership, volunteerism, and hard work.鈥�
